Met Office Visit
Delegates attended a very informative breakfast presentation hosted by the Met Office in Exeter on 12th September 2006. The event was well attended with approximately 40 people attending.
The Met Office is arguably one of Exeter's biggest and most important construction projects in recent years and was an excellent venue for members of the Exeter Property Forum to meet and catch up prior to the presentation by speakers Warren Matthews and Peter Clayton-White.
The presentation provided an overview of the design and building of the Met Office from its conception to completion. Some notable points arising from the presentation included information that the relocation of the Met Office to Exeter was the largest Information Technology facility move in Europe. The building was handed over on time and within budget and has gained several accolades. For example, in 2001 the Met Office was rated as excellent in terms of design assessment.
The architectural design of the building is certainly impressive and attendees were able to view the whole design by having a guided tour of the building and to take on board the comments from the earlier presentation.
